Wilmington Blue Rocks Suffer Record 10th Rainout of Season
Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 01:45AM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-Frederick, MD –The record-setting pace of rainouts in the Carolina League continued on Wednesday night as Mother Nature forced the postponement of the Blue Rocks’ series finale in Frederick. The teams will make the game up as part of a doubleheader the next time the Blue Crew visits Frederick on August 18. Game time for the opener will be announced at a later date.
With the rain shortening the series, Wilmington takes the abbreviated three-game set with its wins on Monday and Tuesday. It marks the Blue Rocks’ 10thrainout of the season, but just their second on the road.
Up next for Brian Rupp’s squad, a four-game series at home against the Kinston Indians. The series kicks off on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. on Mystery Night at Frawley Stadium. The Blue Rocks will send All-Star southpaw Danny Duffy (6-2, 3.43) against lefty Russell Young (1-3, 5.00). Picollo has just flown in from Kansas City along with director of baseball operations Lonnie Goldberg. Director of player development Scott Sharp was in Frederick for a second straight day and all three will journey with the team to Wilmington.
