MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-Reading, PA -- The Reading Phillies snapped a six-game losing streak vs. the New Britain Rock Cats and took out some frustrations in a 9-1 victory on Sunday before 7,748 fans at FirstEnergy Stadium.

In winning their previous six meetings, all in Reading, the Rock Cats outscored the Phillies 49-20, outhit them 80-47 and outhomered them 13-7.

The Phillies biggest inning came in the sixth when they plated four runs with two outs. Tim Kennelly knocked in Brad Harman and Carlos Leon, who both had walked, with a triple just out of the reach of diving right fielder Rene Tosoni. Jeremy Slayden followed Kennelly's three-bagger with a homer, his eighth, into the Pool Pavilion in right.

The R-Phils scored three unearned runs in the third inning on a passed ball and RBI singles by Brian Stavisky and Neil Sellers. The home club added single runs in the fourth and eighth innings on solo homers by Kevin Mahar (10) and Kennelly (2), respectively.

Righty Mike Stutes (7-5) pitched five-and-a-third scoreless innings for the victory and lowered his ERA to 3.90. Stutes is 3-1 with a 2.12 ERA in his last five starts (7 ER in 29.2 IP).

New Britainscored its lone run in the eighth inning on a solo homer by Luke Hughes off of Alex Concepcion, who went the final three and two-thirds to earn his second save.

Sellers was 4-for-4. Matt Fox (6-5) took the loss despite allowing just one earned run.
