RENO, Nev.—Brandon Allen connected on two mammoth home runs Wednesday night, carrying the Reno Aces to a 7-5 victory over the Portland Beavers at Aces Ballpark.
Allen hit a solo shot to lead-off the second inning, which brought Reno to within a run at 2-1. In the fifth, Allen launched a three-run bomb that broke open a 4-4 deadlock and lifted the Aces to their second-straight win.
The win went to Tony Barnette (7-7), who scattered four runs on five hits over seven innings of work. Barnette walked two and punched out a season-high-tying seven batters. Jason Urquidez earned a hold and Reid Mahon finished things off in the ninth for his second save.
The loss fell to Portland starter Wade LeBlanc (2-8), who surrendered seven runs on eight hits over six innings. LeBlanc walked three and struck out two.
