Omaha Royals Double-Up New Orleans Zephyrs, 4-2
Friday, July 3, 2009 at 12:59AM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -The Omaha Royals delivered a trio of two out RBI’s to deliver the hometown Royals a 4-2 win over the New Orleans Zephyrs at Rosenblatt Stadium. The Royals broke a tie game in the seventh inning with a Irving Falu base hit off of Willie Collazo to score Tim Raines.
John Buck started the scoring with a solo home run in the second inning. New Orleans answered with a Michael Ryan home run. The Z’s tied the game a second time in the top of the seventh with a Gookie Dawkins RBI single. The Royals scored a pair in the bottom of the inning and the teams have split the first two games of the series.
Matt Wright earned the win in relief and Carlos Rosa retired all five batters he faced to earn his 4th save of the season.
Game Notes: The Zephyrs will add reliever Luis Ayala on Friday. He had been pitching with the Minnesota Twins this season.
Coming Up: The Zephyrs wrap up the quick three game road trip on Friday night in Omaha. The Z’s will start RH Rick VandenHurk (3-1, 3.31) against RH Heath Phillips (4-7, 6.95) at 6:30 PM. Radio: WIST 690 AM.
