MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -Dayton, Ohio—The Peoria Chiefs scored 10 runs in the top of the ninth inning, battling back from a four-run deficit, to defeat the Dayton Dragons 13-7 on Wednesday night. The victory gave the Chiefs a seven-game winning streak as they handed the Dragons their third straight loss.

With Dayton leading 7-3 going to the ninth, the first 10 batters in the Peoria half of the inning reached base before an out was recorded, and all 10 eventually scored.

Dragons reliever Mark James, who had pitched a perfect eighth inning, faced the first four batters in the ninth and allowed three hits and a walk before being replaced by Aguido Gonzalez with Dayton leading 7-5 and runners at first and second. Gonzalez allowed a base hit to the first man he faced, Rebel Ridling, to bring in one run and move the tying run to third. A wild pick-off throw by Dayton catcher Jordan Wideman allowed the tying run to score. After a walk and a bunt single to load the bases, Gonzalez walked Jovan Rosa to force in the tie-breaking run as Peoria took an 8-7 lead.

Gonzalez was replaced by Donnie Joseph, who allowed three more hits in the inning as five more runs scored before the side was retired.

Gonzalez (0-5) was charged with the loss and a blown save for the second straight night. Peoria came back from a 3-2 deficit with two runs in the ninth against Gonzalez on Wednesday.

Dayton scored six runs in the first inning to take a commanding lead.

With two outs and the bases empty, seven straight Dragons batters reached base. Yen-Wen Kuo drew a bases loaded walk for the first run of the night, and Humberto Sosa followed with a three-run double. Another run scored on a wild pitch, and Alex Oliveras also added a run-scoring double to make it 6-0.

Peoria scored one run in the second and two more in the fourth against Dragons starter J.C. Sulbaran before Dayton’s Cody Puckett drove in a run with single in the fifth to put the Dragons in front 7-3. Entering the ninth inning, Dayton relievers had retired nine straight Peoria hitters.

The Dragons (14-18, 42-60) host the Chiefs (17-15, 55-46) on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the wrap-up to the series. Lance Janke (5-5, 4.06) will start for Dayton.
