Toledo Mud Hens Double Up the Louisville Bats 2-1 - Eastern League

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-The Mud Hens got on the board with two runs in the second inning when1B Ryan Robersonconnected for a monster HR off the Paramount sign next to the left field scoreboard. The HR was the Hens only offense for the night, but it was enough to supportRHP Nate Bumpthrough seven innings, then the Hen Pen shut the door for 2-1 win.

Bump was terrific; his fastball rarely topped 90 mph, but he pitched with finesse and only faced three batters over the minimum through seven innings. He allowed four hits -- a first-inning single that was quickly erased when C DaneSardinhacaught him stealing second, and also a fifth-inning solo shot by Louisville 1B Kevin Barker that had cut the lead to 2-1.

Bump got out of a major jam in the seventh when back-to-back singles started the inning for the Bats, but a double play and another ground out ended the inning. Bump was signed as a free agent on July 4 from the Camden Riversharksof the Atlantic League (Independent), where he was 8-2 with a 2.49 ERA in 79.2 innings. He pitched out of the Florida Marlins bullpen on the 2003 World Series winning team; tonight, he pitched only from the stretch and allowed just the one run in seven innings while striking out four.

Game Notes:

--The Hens offense could manage only five hits, and Roberson had two of them. He has hit safely in four of his last five games for a .316 (6-19) average with a 2B, HR, 3 RBI and 2 Runs

Roster Moves:Toledo turned to the Independent League again to make another roster move--LHP KrisRegashas been signed as a free agent to take the roster spot ofRHP JaySborz, who was placed on the DL retroactive to July 2 with a left oblique strain.
