MIDLAND, MI – The Fort Wayne TinCaps struck for 10 runs and 14 hits Tuesday night to defeat the Great Lakes Loons, 10-5, and spoil a tribute to legendary Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda. Prior to the game Lasorda’s No. 2 uniform was retired at Dow Diamond and a premium seating area on the suite level was renamed Lasorda’s Landing.

The game was played before a sold out crowd of 5,547 on Chemical Bank Dollar Family Feast Night Tuesday.

Nathan Eovaldi (2-5) allowed seven runs (five earned) in 2 1/3 relief innings of starter Ethan Martin to take his first loss since May 16. The loss snapped a streak of 13 consecutive appearances, including seven starts, in which Eovaldi had not allowed more than one earned run. Adam Zornes hit a three-run double in the fourth inning to give Fort Wayne a 5-4 lead.

After the Loons re-tied the game at five on Kyle Russell’s run-scoring single in the fourth, the TinCaps took the lead for good on an Allan Dykstra sac fly. The ’Caps’ exclamation point came in the sixth on a three-run home run by Jaff Decker.

Alfredo Silverio homered, doubled and scored thrice in the Loons’ loss. Russell added three hits and two batted in for the Loons. The top of the Loons’ lineup – Dee Gordon and Jaime Pedroza – combined to go 0-for-10.

Fort Wayne third baseman Justin Baum was ejected from the game in the bottom of the fourth by plate umpire Tyler Wilson for disputing a fair ball call on Silverio’s double. TinCaps’ leadoff man Blake Tekotte reached base five times in the game and scored twice. Drew Cumberland went hitless, but walked three times.

The Fort Wayne bullpen trio of Rob Musgrave, Zach Herr and Alexis Lara combined to throw four no-hit, shutout innings to end any hopes of a Loons comeback.

The win snapped a five-game winning streak for the Loons. Fort Wayne increases its record to a best-in-the-Minors 78-37 overall and to 21-games over .500 in the second half (33-12).

Despite the loss, the Loons are still 17-4 at Dow Diamond in the second half and they continue their current eight-game homestand with the second of four games against the TinCaps on Wednesday night at 7:05pm. Southpaw Aaron Miller (1-0, 1.13 ERA), coming off his first professional win his last start, is scheduled to pitch for the Loons opposite Fort Wayne righty Stiven Osuna (8-7, 4.26).
