Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 11:56PM MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-Altoona, PA- Randy Boone yielded one hit in seven shutout innings to earn his team-leading ninth victory, and Danny Farquhar worked out of bases-loaded jams in the eighth and ninth innings to notch his 11th save, as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats beat the Altoona Curve, 4-2, on Saturday night at Blair County Ballpark.
Boone (9-7) allowed a leadoff double to Brian Friday (1-for-3, 2B, BB) and did not allow another hit in seven strong frames, retiring the final 13 batters he faced, one start after allowing a season-high 10 hits to Altoona (50-70) at Merchantsauto.com Stadium last Sunday. The right-hander matched a season high with six strikeouts, walked three and hit a batter.
The Fisher Cats (54-65) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first against Yoslan Herrera, who yielded three walks and two singles in the inning, including a two-out infield hit to Darin Mastroianni (3-for-4, BB, RBI, R, 2 SB) that scored Todd Donovan (1-for-5, BB, R).

The Fisher Cats tacked on two critical insurance runs in the top of the ninth. Al Quintana (2-for-4, 2B, BB, R) led off with a double to center off Hankins. Mastroianni beat out a bunt single and Quintana scored when third baseman Pedro Alvarez threw wildly to first, allowing Mastroianni to reach second. Scott Nestor came on, uncorked a wild pitch to advance Mastroianni to third, and Jonathan Diaz (2-for-5, RBI) drove in the run with an infield single for a 4-1 lead.
The Curve fought back in the home half of the ninth when Farquhar walked Miles Durham (0-for-3, BB, R) and Jason Delaney (0-for-2, HBP, BB), and allowed Lerud's RBI single. After Jonel Pacheco (1-for-3, BB) singled to load the bases, Farquhar induced the game-ending double play off the bat of Ray Chang (1-for-4), giving the Fisher Cats their third win in their last four games.
The Fisher Cats wrap up their six-game road trip and three-game series against the Curve Sunday night at 6:05pm.
