BOWIE, Md. - The Baysox struggled to contain a potent Akron offense as the Aeros clinched a playoff spot with an 11-5 victory. The Baysox used four position players on the mound, setting a new season high in the defeat. Akron third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall went deep twice against Baysox starter Fredy Deza, who was dealt his sixth loss of the season.
 

"Today was just a bad day for me," Deza said. "All I can do is go out there and give my best next time."
 

The two teams exchanged leads over the first two innings, as Akron jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI single by Matt McBride. The Baysox answered back in the bottom of the inning, plating a run on an error by Beau Mills and getting an RBI single from right fielder Ambiorix Concepcion to take a 2-1 lead.
 

Akron tallied a pair of runs in the second inning and added a single run in the third to take a 4-2 lead. Chisenhall led off the second with a solo blast deep over the secondary wall in right.  Jerad Head followed with a single, and later came around to score on a groundout by Jose Constanza. In the third inning, Chisenhall teed off again with a laser to right for his second homer in as many innings.
 

The Baysox got a run back in the third inning, as shortstop Carlos Rojas walked to start the inning and advanced to third on a single by third baseman Josh Bell. A wild pitch by Aeros starter Josh Tomlin allowed Rojas to score, cutting the deficit to one.
 

Akron would break the game open with four runs over the fifth and sixth innings. Carlos Rivero had a sacrifice fly to bring a run across in the fifth inning, while a bases loaded walk to Lonnie Chisenhall and a two-run double by Jerad Head paced a three-run sixth inning for the Aeros.
 

In the seventh inning, first baseman Eric Crozier came on to pitch for the Baysox. The southpaw allowed a one-out double to Jose Constanza, just outside the outstretched arms of left fielder Paco Figueroa. Constanza came around to score on a single by Mills to make the score 9-3. Crozier said he knew he was going to pitch tonight if the game got out of hand, but it still did not stop the nerves from setting in once he got the call.
 

"(The coaches) told me after I hit in the sixth inning I needed to go warm up," Crozier said. "At that point I kind of went into panic mode and went down there and tried to get ready the best I could."
 

Concepcion was the next to try his luck on the hill for the Baysox, and fared well in his second outing of the season. The right fielder worked a perfect eighth inning and was the only pitcher of the night to retire Chisenhall, getting him to go down swinging for his first career strikeout.
 

Steve Torrealba allowed two runs (one earned) in the ninth before being ejected and replaced by shortstop Jason White, who finished off the ninth inning by getting two groundouts against Mills and McBride.
