West Michigan Whitecaps Rip Fort Wayne Tincaps 8-5 

Comstock Park, Mich.-The top 3 hitters in the West Michigan Whitecaps lineup combined for 8 hits in 14 at bats to highlight an 8-5 win over Ft. Wayne Friday night at Fifth Third Ballpark. Gustavo Nunez was 3-5 with 2 RBI’s and 2 runs scored.  He was a home run short of the cycle.  Alden Carrithers was 2-4 with an RBI.  He also scored twice.  Ben Guez went 3-5 with an RBI and a run scored as well.
 The Whitecaps scored two in the first, 3 in the third, one in the fourth and 2 in the 5th to jump out to an 8-1 lead before Ft. Wayne started chipping away with a run in the 7th, two in the 8th and one in the 9th.
Whitecaps rightfielder Avasail Garcia extended his hitting streak to 11 games with single in the 5th.   Ft. Wayne second baseman Vince Belnome had 3 hits, with a run scored and an RBI in his first game with the Tincaps after being called up from Eugene in Short-A.
Adam Wilk started for the Whitecaps, going 4.2 innings.  He gave up one run on 4 hits and struck out 5.  Eric Crichton (6-0, 4.30) got the win with 2 innings of relief.  Mike Watt (7-3, 4.11) started for Ft. Wayne and took the loss.
The Whitecaps and Ft. Wayne resume their series Saturday night at Fifth Third Ballpark.  Game time is 7pm. A Farm Bureau Insurance Fireworks Show will follow the game.
