MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -Albuquerque Isotopes slugger Mitch Jones and closer Scott Strickland have been named to the 2009 All-Pacific Coast League team, a collection of the circuit’s best players throughout the season, the PCL announced today.
Jones was selected to one of the team’s three outfield slots after leading the League with 33 home runs and a .635 slugging percentage. The slugger also is tied for second in the PCL with 93 RBI, and third in extra base hits with 58. Jones is currently batting .285 and has tied a franchise record with three grand slams this season.
Last night, Strickland logged his League-leading 31st save of the season, just two shy of a Pacific Coast League record. He also has more saves in a single season than any other pitcher who has played professionally in Albuquerque, surpassing Dukes legend Dennis Lewallyn’s mark of 24 set in 1980.
