Trenton Thunder Top New Britain Rock Cats, 4-2

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -(Trenton, NJ)- Trenton scored the go-ahead two runs in the eighth inning and went on fora 4-2 over the New Britain Rock Cats on Monday night from Waterfront Park. Trenton took three out of four games in its series with the Rock Cats, and pulled within one game of New Britain for second place in the Northern Division Standings with seven games to play in the regular season.

Trenton broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the eighth inning. Left fielder James Cooper singled to start the inning off of New Britain Reliever Spencer Steedley. Steedley proceeded to strike out Center fielder Austin Krum and Second baseman Matt Cusick for the first two outs of the inning. But with two outs, Shortstop Eduardo Nunez singled off of New Britain Reliever Kyle Waldrop to move Cooper to second base. First Baseman Chris Malec followed with a two-run triple to put Trenton back on top 4-2. Duff (4-2) picked up the win with two innings of work. Steedley (1-1) took the loss for the Rock Cats.

New Britain tied the game in the top of the eighth inning on an RBI infield single by Left fielder Brian Dinkelman. Down 1-0, Trenton tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth inning. With two outs in the frame, Shortstop Eduardo Nunez delivered a solo home run off of Fox to tie the game at 1-1. The hit extended Nunez's hitting streak to seven games.
