Casey Crosby Helps Lead West Michigan Whitecaps Over South Bend Silver Hawks, 3-0

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -COMSTOCK PARK, MI- Casey Crosby’s six, shutout innings highlighted a 3-0 win by the West Michigan Whitecaps over the South Bend Silver Hawks at Fifth Third Ballpark on Wednesday night. Ben Guez drilled his tenth homerun of the season, and Jordan Lennerton drove in the other two runs with two hits. The win ensures a winning home stand for the ‘Caps as they take two of the first three games played versus the Silver Hawks.

Not since opening night had Casey Crosby faced the Silver Hawks. Crosby was outstanding in his ninth win going six innings. He struck out 5, walked 1 and allowed only 2 hits.

Ben Guez provided the only offense the ‘Caps would need in the first inning. On a full-count, Guez tagged an offering by South Bend starter Taylor Sinclair for a 1-0 Whitecaps’ lead. The home run for Guez makes him the first ‘Cap to reach double-figures in homeruns.

Taylor Sinclair received the loss surrendering 5 hits and 2 runs over 6 innings.

Jordan Lennerton helped the Whitecaps increase the lead in the third with a two-out, RBI double to plate Ben Guez.

Lennerton came through again, this time in the eighth, as he grounded a base-hit to right to bring home Brent Wyatt for a 3-0 Whitecaps advantage.

Victor Larez was perfect in his 2 innings of relief. Tyler Stohr pitched the ninth for his 17th save.

Guez had a homerun and a double. Lennerton finished with a double and a single and 2 RBI.

The Whitecaps close out the series, and the 10-game home stand, with South Bend on Thursday night at Fifth Third Ballpark. Game time is 7:00 p.m. EST
