Binghamton Senators Edge Hamilton Bulldogs 3-2 in AHL Action
Sunday, November 30, 2008 at 09:34AM BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Binghamton Senators defeated the North Division’s Hamilton Bulldogs by a 3-2 final on Saturday night at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Peter Regin tallied for the second straight game to extend his point streak to four games (2+2). Winger Danny Bois connected on the game-winning goal, his sixth career AHL game-winner.
The B-Sens grabbed a 1-0 lead late in the opening period when captain Denis Hamel followed a Drew Fata slap shot from outside the blueline, crashing the net full speed and backhanding the loose puck past netminder Cedrick Desjardins.
Greg Mauldin teamed with Regin on Binghamton’s second marker in the early stages of the second period. Mauldin stole the puck from a Hamilton defender behind the goaltender. Mauldin worked behind the cage and fed a slashing Regin at the front of the crease to give Binghamton a 2-0 lead.
The B-Sens gave up a power-play goal midway through the period. Mathieu Aubin followed a shot from Max Pacioretty, which hit the post and deflected right to an open Aubin. Aubin tapped it into an open net to draw Hamilton within one goal.
Binghamton converted on just one power-play Saturday night, and it came off the stick of Bois. Center Josh Hennessy skated through the Hamilton defense, making several moves before shooting from the mid-slot. Hennessy’s wrist shot hit Desjardins in the chest and bounced up and over the netminder, where Bois tapped the puck out of the air and into the net.
The Bulldogs were able to score a late 6-on-5 goal to make it a 3-2 final. Netminder Brian Elliott made 26 saves to earn his ninth win for Binghamton.
