Providence Bruins Blank Springfield Falcons 2-0 Behind Stellar Goaltending From Tuukka Rask

 

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -Springfield, MAThe Providence Bruins defeated the Springfield Falcons 2-0 Saturday evening at the MassMutual Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Martins Karsums and Vladimir Sobotka. Tuukka Rask picked up his second professional shutout stopping all 27 shots he faced. The P-Bruins are back at home at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center Sunday versus the Hartford Wolf Pack at 4:05 p.m.

The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 2:26 mark of the opening period, while on the power play. Sobotka sent the puck to Karsums as he was crossing the blue line into the Falcons zone. Karsums then skated towards the net before sending the puck into the net for his ninth goal of the season. Providence grabbed a 2-0 advantage at the 19:07 mark of the period. Martin St. Pierre stole the puck in the neutral zone giving the P-Bruins a 2-on-1 advantage. St. Pierre flipped the puck from the right face off circle to Sobotka by the left post and he scored his ninth goal of the season. Providence went into the first intermission leading 2-0.

After scoreless second and third periods the P-Bruins went on to the 2-0 victory.

 

Devan Dubnyk made 26 saves for the Falcons. The P-Bruins were 1-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
