Hartford Wolf Pack Rally Past Bridgeport Sound Tigers 4-3 in Overtime

Bridgeport, CT, December 3, 2008:  Defenseman Michael Sauer's goal at 2:06 of overtime completed a comeback for the Hartford Wolf Pack Wednesday night in Bridgeport, as the Wolf Pack defeated the Sound Tigers by a score of 4-3.

The Wolf Pack rebounded from deficits of 2-0 and 3-1 to score the final three goals of the game.  Sauer deflected fellow blueliner Brian Fahey's shot behind Sound Tiger goaltender Peter Mannino for the winner, after a P.A. Parenteau tip-in of Bobby Sanguinetti's drive had tied the score at three with 4:25 left in the third.

Sanguinetti had a pair of assists on the night, and Wolf Pack goaltender Miika Wiikman made 36 saves to end a personal 0-3-1 streak.  Jack Hillen and Mike Iggulden each had a goal and an assist for Bridgeport.

Bridgeport's Trevor Smith opened the scoring at 18:55 of the first period with a goal that came just as the Wolf Pack's Ethan Graham was stepping out of the penalty box.  Kurtis McLean's shot from the right-wing circle was stopped by Wiikman, but Smith was able to poke the rebound into the net.

Late in another Sound Tiger power play, Hillen, a rookie defenseman, gave Bridgeport a 2-0 lead at 4:21 of the second.  Wiikman got his right pad on Hillen's drive from the right point, but the puck slid past Wiikman and over the goal line.  Artem Anisimov got Hartford on the scoreboard on a Wolf Pack man advantage at 9:52.  Mike Ouellette one-timed a pass from Patrick Rissmiller and Mannino stopped the shot, but Anisimov put in the rebound from Mannino's left.

The two teams then combined for two goals in a span of 28 seconds starting at 12:22.  Mike Iggulden restored Bridgeport's two-goal lead at that point with his team-leading 12th of the season, deflecting in a pass from Hillen.  At 12:50, though, Brodie Dupont got the Wolf Pack back to within one with his fourth goal of the season, and Hartford's second straight power-play goal.  Set up by Sanguinetti, Dupont was able to beat Mannino with a slapshot to the glove side.
