ECHL Names Utah Grizzlies Captain Ryan Kinasewich Player of the Week

West Valley City, Utah – The ECHL announced today that Utah captain Ryan Kinasewich has been named the In Glas Co Player of the Week for January 19-25.

Kinasewich had four goals and three assists in three games this past weekend versus Idaho after being named runner-up for the award the previous two weeks. Kinasewich leads the ECHL in scoring in January with 10 goals and 16 assists for 26 points in 12 games.

This is the seventh time in his career that Kinasewich has been named Player of the Week in the ECHL.

With 15 goals and 30 assists in 30 games, the fourth-year Utah forward has moved into second all-time in Grizzlies scoring with 106 goals and 143 assists for 249 points in 178 total games. He is 29 points away from Chris Taylor to become the all-time leading scorer in Grizzlies history.

On behalf of Ryan Kinasewich, a case of pucks will be donated to a Salt Lake area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 20,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.

The Utah Grizzlies, of the ECHL, celebrate their 15th anniversary season in 2008-2009. Owned and operated by the Elmore Sports Group, the Grizzlies enter their second season and sixth overall as an affiliate of the New York Islanders. South Jordan resident and former Islander Kevin Colley enters his first season as the Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations after serving as Jason Christie’s Assistant Coach in 2007-2008 as the team advanced to the National Conference Finals. The Grizzlies play all home games at the E-Center of West Valley City, which hosted hockey during the 2002 Winter Olympics.
