Peoria Rivermen Lose 2-0 to Milwaukee Admirals in AHL Action

Milwaukee, Wis. – The Peoria Rivermen had the game-tying goal disallowed with 1:18 left in regulation and the Milwaukee Admirals went on to win 2-0 at the Bradley Center.  Charles Linglet put the puck behind Drew MacIntyre for the first time in the game but the referee lost sight of the puck and blew the play dead.  The score remained 1-0 Milwaukee and they later added an empty net goal to finish off the Rivermen.

Chris Holt stopped 30 shots and kept the Rivermen in the game but MacIntyre notched his second shutout of the season by stopping all 28 Peoria attempts.

The Rivermen were held to 0-for-7 on the power play for the second time in as many games against the Admirals and Milwaukee’s game winner came on a power play in the second period.

With 13 seconds remaining on Scott Ford’s minor for high-sticking, Trent Whitfield was called for hooking to create a four-on-four situation.  When Ford came out of the box, Cal O’Reilly snuck him a pass and sent him in unguarded on Holt.  After a move to the backhand, he flipped it past the goaltender at 16:32.  It was Ford’s second goal of the season and O’Reilly’s 32nd assist (leads AHL).

O’Reilly was responsible for the empty net goal as well by getting his sixth of the season at 19:27 of the third.

The disallowed goal came following a Steve Regier shot that created a rebound at the side of the net.  The referee, situated along the goal line on the opposite side of the play, couldn’t find the puck and just as he attempted blow the whistled, Linglet flipped home the rebound.  Ian Croft immediately signaled no goal and Peoria was unable to tie it in the final 1:18.

Milwaukee improved to 7-0-1 in their last eight games and have opened up an eight point lead over the Rivermen and the Iowa Chops for first place in the West Division.
