Mike Iggulden and Andrew MacDonald of Bridgeport Sound Tigers Named to AHL All-Star Team

Bridgeport, Conn. – Sound Tigers leading scorer Mike Iggulden and rookie defenseman Andrew MacDonald have been selected to represent the Sound Tigers at the 2009 American Hockey League All-Star game in Worcester, MA.  Both players will skate for Team Canada in the Skills Competition on Sunday, Jan. 25 and the game on Monday, Jan. 26.

This season, Iggulden has recorded 16 goals and 22 assists for 38 points in 35 games.  The St. Catharines, ON native is the only player on the Sound Tigers to have played in every game, skating on the team's top line with Kurtis McLean and Trevor Smith, who is currently on recall to the New York Islanders.  This is Iggulden's second time playing in the mid-season classic, after representing the Worcester Sharks at last year's game in Binghamton, NY.

For MacDonald, this has been a breakout season for the first year defenseman.  Last season, the Judique, NS native dressed in only 21 games for the Sound Tigers before playing the remainder of the season with the organization's ECHL affiliate, the Utah Grizzlies.  Through the first half of this season, MacDonald has been one of the best defensemen the Sound Tigers have had patrolling their blue-line, recording five goals and nine assists for 14 points in 29 games.

The Sound Tigers return to action tomorrow night at home against the Houston Aeros at 7 p.m.  On Saturday, the Hartford Wolf Pack will come to Arena at Harbor Yard to take on the Sound Tigers at 7 p.m.  Tickets are available by contacting the team's front office at (203) 334-GOAL or by e-mailing info@soundtigers.com.
