Hamilton Bulldogs Squeak Past Texas Stars in Shootout, 2-1

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -Austin, TX – The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Texas Stars 2-1 in a shootout on Saturday night. With the win, the ‘Dogs extended their point streak to eight games and remain the only team in the AHL that has yet to suffer a regulation loss.

Mathieu Darche opened the game’s scoring at 13:04 of the first frame. Mathieu Carle fired a shot that was saved by Texas starting goaltender Matt Climie. Darche batted the puck out of mid-air and into the back of the net.ADVERTISEMENT

The Stars tied the game 1-1 at 17:41 while on a 5-on-3 power play. Garrett Stafford received the puck from Mathieu Beaudoin before blasting a shot from the point. The puck sailed past Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford and into the net. 

Neither team could score in the extra period, which sent the game into a shootout. Tom Pyatt and Mathieu Darche scored for Hamilton while Sanford stopped four of five shooters to lead the 'Dogs to victory. 

The Bulldogs end their three-game road trip in Houston when they battle the Aeros on Tuesday, October 27th at 8:05 p.m. EST.
