Calgary Hitmen Edge Kootenay Ice 2-1 - WHL
Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 08:34AM Cranbrook, BC – Michael Snider made 39 saves to backstop the Calgary Hitmen to a 2-1 win in Cranbrook Friday night over the Kootenay Ice.
Chase Schaber on a first period power play, and Joel Broda even strength in the second period, provided the Hitmen scoring as Calgary built a 2-0 lead after forty minutes.
Ice rookie defenceman Petr Senkerik snapped Snider’s shutout bid scoring on the powerplay with 3:18 left in regulation time.
The win improves the Hitmen record to 5-0.
Calgary will host a FREE meet and greet with fans at the Pengrowth Saddledome on Saturday. Coaches will wear a wireless microphone for practice starting at 11:30 a.m.
Fans can then skate with the team for an hour starting at around 12:15 p.m.
Next action for the Hitmen is on Sunday (October 4th) when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors. Game time is 2:00 p.m. It’s the Hitmen’s 15th Birthday Party Celebration with the team to wear a special pink themed jersey in celebration. Bret “The Hitman” Hart, whom the team is named after, will be in attendance for a ceremonial puck drop and intermission interview.
