Norfolk Admirals Announce Opening Night Roster

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk Admirals will carry 14 forwards, six defensemen and three goaltenders into Hershey tomorrow night for their regular season opener against the Bears. A complete roster is attached to this press release.

Headlining the forward ranks is right wing Brandon Bochenski, who will take aim at the Norfolk (AHL) Admirals all-time goal scoring record this season. Bochenski, who has 60 goals in 104 career games with Norfolk, is just 16 markers away from tying Casey Hankinson’s mark of 76 goals as a Norfolk Admiral.

Joining Bochenski in the forward ranks are fellow NHL-contracted players Ryan Craig, Mitch Fadden, Mitch Fritz, Adam Hall, Blair Jones, Martins Karsums, Chris Lawrence, Juraj Simek, Paul Szczechura and Dana Tyrell. Tryout players Tommy Goebel (PTO), Justin Keller (PTO) and Travis Whitehead (ATO) also remain with the Admirals.

The defense corps is comprised entirely of NHL-contracted defensemen – including three former first-round draft picks. Scott Jackson, Matt Lashoff, Mike Lundin, Vladimir Mihalik, Kevin Quick and Ty Wishart make up the blueline. Each player appeared in games for Norfolk last season.

Top Lightning prospect goaltenders Riku Helenius, Jaroslav Janus and Dustin Tokarski will man the pipes for the Admirals to start the season. Helenius led the Admirals last season with a 2.72 goals-against average. Janus was drafted by the Lightning this past summer out of Erie (OHL) and had an impressive training camp. Tokarski will make his professional debut and has a World Junior Championship gold medal, Memorial Cup championship and Canadian Midget National Championship on his résumé already.

The Admirals open the regular season on the road with a game against the defending Calder Cup Champion Hershey Bears in Hershey tomorrow night.
