Erie Otters Fall 3-1 To Owen Sound Attack

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -Attack went on the board at the 9:38 mark with a goal off an odd-man rush. Marcus Carroll went into the Otters zone on the right wing and hit Jason Wilson with a one-timer pass at 9:38.

The Otters outshot the Attack in the first two periods, 33-23, and had several opportunities through power plays to break the shutout. However, Attack goaltender Scott Stajcer confused the Otters through the first 40 minutes of play.

Mike Halmo scored what proved to be the decisive goal 5:15 into the third, as he put in a one-timer from Jason Wilson after Michael McGurk was able to keep the play alive in the Otters zone with a keep-in on the blue line.

The Otters killed off two consecutive penalties later in the third, and were able to get on the board with Greg McKegg’s tenth goal of the season with 4:56 left in regulation. McKegg took a one-timer in the slot from Anthony Luciani to pick up a tally in his sixth straight game, currently a league-best.

A late penalty on the Otters made things difficult near the end of regulation, and the Attack were able to use the man advantage to pick up an empty netter by Garrett Wilson with 35 seconds remaining.

Stacjer had 44 saves for the Attack, although Janus continued his strong start to the OHL season with 32 saves, taking third star honors. Zack Torquato’s point-scoring streak was snapped at seven.

The Otters have a rematch with the Attack Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Fans can listen to the broadcast on 1330 AM The Fan Fox Sports Radio, or online at ottershockey.com.
