Providence Bruins Down the Springfield Falcons 5-2 - AHL

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-Providence, RI – The Providence Bruins defeated the Springfield Falcons 5-2 Friday evening in front of 8,424 at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.  The P-Bruins got their goals from Andy Wozniewski, Jeff LoVecchio, Kirk MacDonald, Guillaume Lefebvre and Kirk MacDonald.  The P-Bruins return to action at home at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center Saturday at 7:05 p.m. for Boychuk Poster Night against the Worcester Sharks. 

After a scoreless opening period, the P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead at the 3:14 mark of the second period, while on the power play. Wozniewski shot the puck from the blue line and it trickled into the net for his sixth goal of the season.  The goal was unassisted.  Providence made it 2-0 at the 14:30 mark.  Mikko Lehtonen worked the puck out of his own end to Arniel in the neutral zone.  He tipped the puck to LoVecchio, who put it into the net for his eighth goal of the season.  Springfield pulled within one at the 14:45 mark.  Ryan O’Marra netted his fourth goal of the season, while Colin McDonald and Johan Motin recorded the assists. The P-Bruins led 2-1 after two periods.ADVERTISEMENT     

The Falcons tied the game at two at the 4:51 mark of the third period, while on the power play.  Colton Fretter tallied his fifth goal of the season with Alex Plante and Chad Wiseman picking up the assists.  Providence retook the lead at the 5:25 mark.  LoVecchio sent the puck down the ice for Zach Hamill, who played it behind the Falcons net.  He passed it to MacDonald in the slot, who scored his third goal of the season.  The P-Bruins made it 4-2 at the 12:45 mark.  Adam McQuaid blocked a shot in front of his own net and passed it to Craig Weller in the neutral zone.  He fed Lefebvre in the slot, who scored his second goal of the season.  The P-Bruins finished off the scoring at the 19:01 mark.  Arniel scored an empty net goal unassisted, his fourth of the season.  The P-Bruins went on to the 5-2 victory.   

Dany Sabourin stopped 19 of 21 shots for the P-Bruins, while Devan Dubnyk made 30 saves for the Falcons.  The P-Bruins were 1-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
