Colorado Eagles Beat Rapid City Rush 4-1 - CHL

Rapid City, SD – On Friday, the Eagles dominated the special teams and after giving up the game’s first goal, used four unanswered to beat the Rush 4-1.  The game was littered with penalties as both teams combined for 19 powerplays.

Just 35 seconds into the contest, Rich Hansen was awarded a penalty shot after he was hooked on a breakaway opportunity that was set up by Derek Campbell.  Hansen, looking for his third goal in as many games, was unable to get a shot after he lost control skating in on Eagles goaltender Andrew Penner.  Still, the Rush carried their momentum from Tuesday’s win into Friday night’s contest against the Eagles, collecting the first goal of the game.  Scott Wray set up Brendan Cook who sent home a rebound from the top of the crease to give the Rush a 1-0 lead.  By collecting the second assist, defenseman Gio Flamminio scored his first point of the season.  The Eagles would later gain their first powerplay chance of the game and Ryan McLeod would convert to tie the game.ADVERTISEMENT

The Eagles would then score another powerplay goal and double the lead at the 17:01 mark of the second with Kevin Ulanski’s 8th goal of the season.

The Eagles then continued their third period dominance over the Rush as Ryan McLeod scored his second and Ryan Tobler made it a 4-1 game.

Special teams played a vital role as Colorado went 3-for-9 on the powerplay while the Rush went scoreless on 10 chances.  The game featured some high intensity as it featured a total of five fights and a combined 120 penalty minutes.  Final shots were 37-36 in favor of the Rush.

The Rush now head to Colorado for the third and final game of the week, scheduled for tomorrow, November 21st at 7:05pm MST.
