Port Huron Icehawks Begin Road Swing With 3-2 Shootout Loss To Quad City Mallards

Juris Stals and Patrick Levesque scored in the shootout for the Mallards, while Mike Kinnie netted the lone Port Huron goal on Mallards goalie Kyle Jones. Port Huron outshot Quad City 34-32 in the contest and earned one point in the IHL standings to move within two points of first place Muskegon. Jones made 32 saves while Port Huron's Adam Russo turned aside 30 shots. Mickael Bedard forced overtime when he scored his second power play goal of the game at 17:10 of the third period. Bedard scored on a one tier from the right circle off a feed from Daniel Tetrault. Nick Lindberg also assisted. Port Huron outshot the Mallards in the third 17-6. Each team had four shots on goal in a scoreless overtime period. The teams traded second period goals as the Mallards jumped out to a 2-0 lead on Mike Zbriger's wrist shot just 1:01 into the period. Chris Lipsett and Levesque assisted. Port Huron's Bedard put in his own rebound on a Port Huron power play 9:05 into the second to put the Icehawks on the board. Daniel Tetrault and Derek Patrosso had assists. The goal extended Bedard's personal point streak to seven games, while Tetrault's assist gave him a point in five straight games. The Mallards Mike Zbriger was stopped on a penalty shot by Icehawks goalie Adam Russo at 12:03 of the period. Shots favored the Mallards 14-7 in the second. The Mallards Chris Lipsett scored the only goal of the first period on assists from Shane Lovdahl and Jason Goulet at 11:52 of the period. The Mallards outshot the Icehawks 8-6 in the period.
