Amarillo Gorillas Drop 4-1 Decision To Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -Amarillo, TX 11/27/09 – The Amarillo Gorillas played tough again, but fell Friday night to the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 4-1.

 

Amarillo & Rio Grande Valley skated a clean opening period, with Amarillo receiving the only full power-play opportunity of the frame. Half of the Amarillo’s skaters earned at least one shot on goal (7 of 14 players) in the period. At the end of one, Amarillo 0 Rio Grande Valley 0.  

 

The league’s hottest player found the twine again in the second. Forward Grant Goeckner-Zoeller scored his team-leading twelfth and thirteenth goals of the season at the 13:19 mark & with less than three minutes remaining in the period. Amarillo would fire 10 shots on goal in the period to no avail. End of two, Rio Grande Valley 2 Amarillo 0.

 

Rio Grande Valley would continue their strong play, as forward Jesse Bennefield notched his eleventh goal of the season to make it a 3-0 Bee lead. Newcomer Shaun Arvai would be the bright spot for Amarillo, netting his first goal as a Gorilla with less than 5 minutes remaining. Bees goaltender Andy Franck stood tall, helping Rio Grande Valley the 4-1 win.  

 

The Gorillas will hop on the bus tonight in order to take on the Wichita Thunder tomorrow night at 7pm. The game will be broadcasted on 1440 AM ESPN Radio and CHL-TV beginning at 6:55pm CST.
