Odessa Jackalopes Edged by the Allen Americans 5-4

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com-(Odessa, TX) – The top two teams in the CHL’s Southern Conference put together a back and forth classic on Friday night at the Ector County Coliseum as the Odessa Jackalopes fell to the Allen Americans, 5-4.  The loss was only Odessa’s third in regulation this season.

The Americans struck first on a shorthanded goal from Tobias Whelan at 3:20 to take a 1-0 lead.  Odessa’s Kory Karlander tied the game with his second shorthanded goal of the season at 12:34.  Both teams traded goals again as Allen’s Bruce Graham and Odessa’s Collin Circelli each scored in final five minutes of the period to make a 2-2 score after the first.ADVERTISEMENT

The teams continued to trade goals in the second as the Americans took a 4-2 lead on a pair of goals from Mick Berge and Nathan O’Nabigon the first six minutes of play.  The Jacks answered right back with a pair of goals of their own.  Paul Kelly banged home a rebound at 6:57, then Sebastien Thinel wristed a power play goal in at 17:59.  Thinel’s goal extended Odessa’s streak to 16 games with a power play goal.

The American’s scored the difference maker with just four seconds remaining the second period on power play goal from Justin Bowers.  Neither team scored in the third period.

The Jackalopes continue their homestand Saturday against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at 7:05 PM at the Ector County Coliseum.  The action can be heard on 102.1 Jack FM.
