Binghamton Senators Left Wing Josh Hennessy Named AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Binghamton Senators left wing Josh Hennessy has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 29, 2009. Hennessy recorded four goals, three assists and a plus-9 rating in three games last week.

On Thursday evening, Hennessy scored twice, chipped in an assist and was a plus-4 in Binghamton’s 7-0 rout of Adirondack at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. He recorded his 100th career AHL goal and added an assist in Friday’s 5-4 loss at Toronto, and came back with another goal and an assist on Saturday as the Senators defeated league-leading Rochester, 5-0.

In recognition of his achievement, Hennessy will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Senators home game.

A second-round draft choice by the San Jose Sharks in 2003, Hennessy has notched eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points in 23 games for Binghamton this season, and is tied for second in the AHL with his plus-14 rating. Hennessy, 24, is on pace to reach the 20-goal mark for the fifth time in as many seasons in the AHL, and now shows 101 goals and 127 assists for 228 points in 314 career AHL games. The native of Brockton, Mass., also has to his credit one goal in 16 NHL contests with Ottawa, and he participated in the AHL All-Star Classic in 2007.

Other nominees for Reebok/AHL Player of the Week include Adirondack right wing David Laliberte, Albany center Rob Hennigar, Bridgeport goaltender Scott Munroe, Chicago center Jason Krog, Grand Rapids left wing Tomas Tatar, Hartford right wing Dale Weise, Hershey defenseman Zach Miskovic, Houston right wing Jean-Michel Daoust, Manchester center Gabe Gauthier, Milwaukee goaltender Chet Pickard, Norfolk center Blair Jones, Peoria right wing Adam Cracknell, Peoria center Felix Schutz, Rochester center Jeff Taffe, Rockford left wing Kyle Greentree, San Antonio left wing Brett MacLean, Syracuse left wing Bates Battaglia, Texas goaltender Matt Climie, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton center Mark Letestu and Worcester goaltender Alex Stalock.
