MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com- Elmira, NY- The Elmira Jackals suffered their first loss in five games with a 4-3 shootout defeat to the Trenton Devils tonight in front of a crowd of 3,684 at First Arena. Trevor Kell netted two goals and the shootout game winner for Trenton in the 12th match up of the season between the two teams. The Jackals look to pick up three of four weekend points tomorrow night when they host the Reading Royals at 7:35 p.m.

The Devils opened the scoring at the 7:37 mark of the first period on Brad Snetsingers’ 12th of the year. The Jackals countered with a Paul McIlveen power play goal at the 16:22 mark to even the score at 1-1. Nathan Lutz and Benoit Doucet assisted. Trenton would pick up their second lead of the game at the 17:51 mark of the first on a Trevor Kell power play tally. Trenton held a 9-5 shot advantage in the first period.

In the second period the Jackals brought out the power play-fire power.. Steve Yetman and Nathan Lutz set up Brandon Roach for the 2-2 equalizer at the 11:40 mark on a five on three man advantage. The Jackals then took their first lead of the game at the 13:13 mark. Again on the five on three advantage, Nathan Lutz fired a slap shot that was tipped in the slot by Mike Sgroi, who picked up his third goals in as many games for the Jackals.. Brandon Roach also got credit on the play. The 3-2 lead didn’t last long, with Trevor Kell netting his second of the game, 16th of the season at the 17:37 mark.

With the loss the Jackals fall to 27-19-1-4 while the Devils improve to 25-18-2-2.
