Jeff Jakaitis Stops 50 Shots To Lead Charlotte Checkers to 4-0 Blanking of Florida Everblades

MLN Newswire - www.mlntherawfeed.com -CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Despite being heavily outshot at home, the Checkers leaned on their goaltender Jeff Jakaitis for another brilliant performance and he wouldn’t disappoint stopping 50 shots helping Charlotte to a 4-0 victory.
After a scoreless first period, the Checkers scored two goals in the middle stanza. The first was by forward Mike Bayrack when he snuck inside the Everblades zone on the right wing and beat Everblades netminder David Leggio under the left pad at 1:16. The Checkers went up 2-0 when David Rutherford carried the puck inside the Florida zone on a two-on-one. Rutherford decided to shoot and he was rewarded with a goal at 14:40.
During the third period, Chris Capraro took a nice pass from Ryan Murphy and wristed a shot low on the blocker side of Leggio for a 3-0 lead at 9:58. The Checkers received one more goal from Jeff Miles at 11:17 giving them all they needed for a 4-0 win against Florida.
Notes: In his last two games, Jakaitis has stopped 104 of 106 shots...Leggio turned aside 18 of 22 shots...Jeff Miles has goals in his past three games...Ralph is on a 14 game point streak...The Checkers play the Everblades twice more this week.
