Forward Jonathan Hazen of Val-D'Or Foreurs is Canadian Hockey League Player of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Jonathan Hazen of the Val-d’Or Foreurs is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending September 27 for recording eight points including two goals and six assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-4 in four games.
Hazen and the Foreurs embarked on a four-game road trip that began Tuesday night in Rouyn-Noranda against the Huskies.  Despite the 7-4 loss, Hazen contributed two assists.  Two nights later the team bounced back with a 4-2 win against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens Thursday, and Hazen added an assist on the game-winner scored by Samuel Morneau on the power play at 16:34 of the second period.  He added another assist Friday night in a 5-3 loss to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar before exploding with a four-point game Saturday in a 7-4 win in a rematch against the Drakkar as third star of the game.  His two goals and two assists all came in a five-goal third period for the Foreurs who finished the week with a comeback win.
Hazen, a 19-year-old from Val-Bélair, QC, is playing in his third QMJHL season with the Foreurs and currently leads the league in scoring with four goals and 10 assists for 14 points in eight games.  Last season he scored 20 goals and 25 assists for 45 points in 62 games.
Eric O’Dell of the OHL’s Sudbury Wolves was also nominated for the award this week after scoring three goals and four assists for seven points leading the Wolves to three wins on the week.  Thomas Vincour of the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings receives honourable mention with six points in three games including two goals and four assists.
